The way Baldwin's non-fiction does thinking and words, honestly. Unparalleled. These three little essays (Dark Days, The Price of the Ticket and The White Man's Guilt) are concise, brutally to the point and an impeccable mix of personal narrative and political analysis. I dare you to read this and not feel. when he was dead, I realized that I would have done anything whatever to have been able to hold him in this world CW: systemic racism, racism, mentions of suicides, lynchings - not descriptive rather matter-of-fact, analysis of white supremacist ideology.
