The present book introduces readers to worldwide research and concepts which outline a comprehensive theory of cognitive and psychodynamic interaction in culture contact. The encounter between people of different cultural backgrounds always stimulates processes of learning and insight. The bookʼs author is a cultural anthropologist by training, Ph.D. 1971 at the University of Vienna with a three-volume dissertation on mukanda boysʼ initiation schools in Angola. He is internationally renowned particularly for his African and Brazilian studies and field experience. On lecture tours he has traveled to thirty-three countries and was repeatedly invited by American universities and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. He writes his academic works in English, German, Portuguese and French.
