This extreme horror book draws on the real queer horror of conversion camps, giving this horror a shape in form of monsters. It is extremely graphic, full of body horror and violence (and sex), but yet the most terrifying part for me was this feeling of not knowing where to escape from these camps because these are children sent there by their families who do not accept them because they are queer, who are often abusive and maybe more violent than any monster could be. There are quite a lot of characters and while I was confused at the beginning, I still liked to get so many different perspectives, many of them offering different trans* experiences. It shows different ways to deal with the horror, different nuanced characters, and while you don't get more of a glimpse of some of them, it was still interesting to follow their connections.
