3.5 stars for By Virtue I Fall Hmmm…what can I say? Did I enjoy this book? Absolutely! I have to admit that I am a huge Cora fan and I’m just so in love with her writing style. Hence, I was able to finish this book in one day. This book was a lot lighter than the others, less “cruel” depictions of the mafia world and generally more romantic. I found both Anna and Santino likable (at least after they both left for Paris). I was really surprised by Anna’s determination to protect the outfit and her dominant yet empathic personality. Santino was more the brooding type, grumpy and sometimes mean. However, they complimented each other surprisingly well. I was also astound by the connection and bond Leonas and Anna shared. I am really exited about his book now too, since some hints were made :) Dante and Valentinas POV however, weren’t my favorite parts. They somehow didn’t feel like Valentina and Dante… idk how to explain.I definitely preferred Lucas and Arias POV in BSIR. They somehow felt more “in character”… Maybe I am more stricter because Cora is my favorite author. I know what potential she has and some of her previous releases where just wayyy better. Maybe this book was a little to long with some twists and turns that were -in my opinion- a little too much and just simply unnecessary. Some scenes could’ve been cut short. There were also weird time jumps that confused me. I also didn’t like that Santino followed Anna around like a lost puppy when she made her “final decision”. Yes, I love strong heroines who know what they want but so many things and hardships could’ve been prevented on her end. But over all, still a very good book and definitely worth reading! I can’t wait for Cora’s next releases. Especially By Fate I Conquer. I have to admit that I was least exited about this release….
