Tropes – mafia romance – arranged marriage – age gap – second marriage – pregnancy

Valentina is the best part of the book. I enjoyed how much she grows throughout the book character–wise. She is a woman in a men‘s world, and she does an exceptional job holding herself upright and being a strong woman in the Mafia. I can‘t say often enough how much I hate the pregnancy trope (“surprise pregnancy“ in particular, but you can cross the “surprise“ off and I still hate it) There are exceptions to that rule, but I‘m afraid Bound by Duty isn‘t one of them. I‘m kind of unsure what to think of Dante. I feel like I barely know him, though he had good scenes that made me like him. But his story revolves a lot around his deceased wife, and in my opinion I didn‘t get to know him and his personality as good in the process. He is rather passive, while Val fights so very hard for him – that doesn‘t sit right with me. Although it makes me like Val even more. 3/5⭐️ 3/5🌶️

This whole book I’ve felt so incredibly sorry for val but also for Dante. I don’t approve of the way he treated her. In fact I hated it but I do kinda understand why he did treat her like that. But what I hate most is that he never once told her that he loves her. And that he came to his senses in the last 10% of the book.😭😭
