A slow start, but paid off in the end Short stories can be harder to write than novels, and I think this is a pretty good demonstration. In no way is this a bad story, but I felt it stumbled a little bit at the beginning. It initially didn't feel like I was in the world I'd spent the last two books in. By the end however, that had rectified itself and it became a thoroughly enjoyable story. What I don't know it's whether it was written before or after the third book. I'll be very interested to see how some developments in this story feature in the third book, or not as the case may be. Still very much worth a read.
