About the book

Jennifer Sylvester wants one thing, and that one thing is NOT to be Tennessee’s reigning Banana Cake Queen. Ever the perpetual good girl and obedient daughter, Jennifer is buckling under the weight of her social media celebrity, her mother’s ambitions, and her father’s puritanical mandates. Jennifer is officially desperate.

And desperate times call for Cletus Winston.

Cletus Winston is a puzzle wrapped in a mystery covered in conundrum sauce, and now he’s in a pickle. Despite being convinced of his own omniscience, extortion by the exalted Banana Cake Queen of Green Valley has taken him completely by surprise. So... what’s a maniacal mastermind to do?

Likely, the last thing you expect.

'Beard Science' is the third book in the Winston Brothers series, is a full-length romantic comedy novel, and can be read as a standalone.

I'm pretty sure I've read this more than twice, but I have no reccord to show it so we'll settle to say this was the second time I read it. I'm rereading it to set up for Engagement and Espionage which I've been waiting for with anticipation and it's finally here! Okay so this is the story of Jennifer, the Banana Cake Queen. Jennifer is working at her mom's bakery as the main pastry chef and also doing a lot on the side for social media and publicity. As part of that she sometimes has to interview people for her channel. That day, Jennifer goes to the police station to film the sheriff's interview and films a crime on accident. The is commited by Cletus Winston, third oldest Winston brother and Winston auto shop mechanic. But instead of going to the police with her evidence, Jennifer tells Cletus about it and blackmail him to help her find a husband. This is probably my favorite Penny Reid book of all time, and that's saying a lot bacause we all know Penny just makes up such good stories. I cry for the beginning. I think Jenniger is the kind of character you just can't help loving and feeling for. At least, I relate to her a lot. And this story just hits me right in the feels. Cletus is also probably my favorite Winston brother, so that works out perfectly. As Cletus would say I thing he and Jenn are suited and I just love their love story. The plot surrounding them of Jenn finding her voice (and her backbone) and Cletus's world kind of shifting is just so good and well made. I honestly just love this book.
