The book is a huge disappointment. The book of about 400 pages can be put into one sentence: Sex-obsessed virgin is meeting her first love at theatre school who is, of course, going to break her heart. The story is told in 2 alternating perspectives: the first year at theatre school where Cassie and Ethan are getting now each other and then 6 years later after Ethan broke her heart. I do like different perspectives but here it didn't work for me. I mixed up the years and I often had the feeling that the change of perspective was pulling me out of the story. My next problem were the characters. I couldn't connect with the characters at all. Cassie is a virgin but absolutely sex-obsessed and it trying all the time to get into Ethan's pants. I can understand that she has a certain urge there but this was too over the top. Seriously, which woman imagines a penis with a ribbon around it and calls it so beautiful it could win an award?! This leads to the next problem: the constant sex talk. I seriously have no problem with sex in books but here sex was everywhere. The female protagonist was forcing herself on the male one, in the clique the only topic was sex. For me the whole connection between Cassie and Ethan was based on sex. The even in the book praised chemistry between the two wasn't visibile at all. The whole plot and character remained too shallow and absolutely lacked in emotions. Only on the last pages there was finally some substance to the love story. I still think the book had some kind of potential because I really liked the theatre setting. Unfortunately it remained in the background and I really wish it would have been integrated a lot more. I am not a big fan of the writing style either. Though it was a kind of fast read, the style often felt shallow and blunt. Even though the book end with a kind of cliffhanger, I will not read the next book.
