Aschaffenburg

Aschaffenburg is a city of nearly 74,000 inhabitants in which various cultural and geographical influences overlap: The more than 800-year-old function as an official town and residence of the Elector- Archbishop of Mainz, who as Arch-chancellor of the Holy Roman Empire also held the second highest office after the Emperor, has been contrasted since 1814 by its affiliation to the Free State of Bavaria on its westernmost border, far away from the state capital of Munich.
