This is hard to rate. I think 3,5 from me. I loved Pen! They are such a great character. Genderqueer and a trapeze artist and also an Earl! And Mark was also interesting. But the plot was a lot of repetition from the previous book, and I read that just before. So I skipped a lot of explanations. Also I thought that Pen's problem becoming an Earl was a bit repeated too often. Whereas his love for his job and what it would mean for him to give that up besides the ability to dress genderqueer was left out. I mean that is a demanding and unique job I think you have to love it to do that. And the end dragged a bit. A bit too happy for everyone. But that is just my taste. I liked the second book in the series better.
