According to recent statistics, in the year 2050 more that a third of the population of Germany will be older than 60 years of age. There will also be more elderly than young people and adolescents together. This is what is now called the overaging of society. This concept has a negative connotation and evokes all the prevalent prejudices toward the elderly.The Christian tradition, however, includes an understanding of life that grants all humans a breadth of life beyond work and career. Life is not just performance and having to live, but also being free to live, grace.
