After all the good things I've heard about this book it was surprisingly ... mediocre. As to what exactly I expected, I can't put my finger on it. Maybe just something ... more. The characters were nice and all, but to me they remained shallow and never developed a real soul (I don't know how else to call it). The story included almost no remarkable events and didn’t develop an arc of suspense. There was no building tension towards the end. There was nothing really surprising. This whole book was like a very bland meal.
