ARC Review – A Voice in Chains by Harleigh Beck I don’t even know where to begin except to say: WOW. I got so lucky snagging an ARC of A Voice in Chains—and the second I saw that approval email, I dove into the book like my life depended on it. No swimming sleeves, no caution, just full-on obsession from page one. And it. Did. Not. Disappoint. From the moment Zachary and Arkin’s worlds collide, I was hooked. Harleigh Beck doesn’t hold back—she throws you straight into the tension, the chemistry, and the raw, aching emotion. And when I say the tension is spicy? I mean SPICY. This book is unhinged in the best possible way—hot, brutally honest, and emotionally chaotic in a way that had me clinging to every word. Zachary is your picture-perfect athlete with a life all figured out—until Arkin walks in, silent, mysterious, and dragging a past that speaks volumes despite his voicelessness. The dynamic between them? Electric. Painful. Addictive. Watching Zachary unravel and confront feelings he never expected was both beautiful and heartbreaking. And Arkin? He’s going to live rent-free in my head forever. Their connection is deep, messy, and so incredibly real. Also—can we talk about Zach’s best friends? Savage, hilarious, dark, but fiercely loyal. They added such a fun and sometimes gut-punching layer to the whole story. I teared up more than once, and honestly, I just didn’t want it to end. I’m so grateful to Harleigh for giving me the opportunity to read this early—this book was everything I wanted and more. If you’re into spicy, emotional, slow-burn MM romance with depth, angst, and a power couple you’ll die for, A Voice in Chains is a must-read. Solid 5 stars from this lucky reader. Now excuse me while I go devour the rest of Harleigh Beck’s books.
Ich liebe diese Geschichte und konnte sofort eintauchen! Sie entwickelt sich schnell, es geht heiss her, und die Emotionen sind ebenfalls hoch! Es hat meine Stimmung genau im richtigen Moment getroffen! Ich war gefesselt und konnte das Buch nicht aus der Hand legen. Die Spannung zwischen Zach und Arkin ist prickelnd, und der Spice war erstklassig für mich 🥵🔥🌶️. Aber auch die starke emotionale Bindung, der Beschützerinstinkt, der gut spürbar war, hat mir gefallen. Ich denke, das Buch wird mir noch eine Weile im Gedächtnis bleiben und ich freue mich schon auf Harleighs nächste Geschichte!
This book is the perfekt mix of love, pain, spice and trauma-response
I absolutely devoured this book, not only because it was quite short, but also because I was immersed in the plot from the very beginning 🫢 The relationship between Ark and Zach develops quite faster than in other romance books, but I really didn’t mind this at all. They didn't get along well at first, but quickly felt a strong connection and attraction to each other - both Zach and Ark (their mutual possession and obsession was quite hot if you ask me 🫣) I loved the way they both deeply (and I mean DEEPLY) cared for each other and how protective Zach was about Ark. I really really liked the whole development of their relationship and the way Ark opened up to Zach slowly but surely. The trust they built up throughout the book, to the point where they became each other’s anchor was beautiful to witness. Also the healing process of Arkin’s trauma was done beautifully if you ask me and the ending of this book was nothing but perfection! 🤌🏻 If you like books with a low to mid angst, high heat and a really emotional and heartwarming love story “Voice in Chains” might be your next read 🙂↕️
Wieder eine tolle Story aus Harleigh Becks Feder. Die Dynamik zwischen den beiden ist wundervoll dargestellt und die Spicy Szenen sind top. Jedoch ist mir die Story etwas zu linear. Die ersten intimen Szenen kommen extrem früh in der Geschichte vor, was den Anfang ein bisschen wirken lässt, als ob Beck schnell zum Hauptteil der Story kommen wollte. Auch ist nicht direkt klar, dass aus beiden Sichten erzählt wird. Arkins Sichtweise kommt erst in Kapitel 13 vor. Da hätte gerade zu Beginn mehr kommen können. Aber wahrscheinlich war das von Beck so geplant um sein Schweigen weiter zu verdeutlichen. Alles in allem ist 'A voice in chains' ein tolles, mit seinen 268 Seiten kurzweiliges Buch, aus dem man noch etwas mehr machen hätte können. 'Chokehold' war leider besser, ausgereifter in den Details. Sterne 4/5 Tränen 1/5 Spice 5/5

Ich fand die Story interessant,was auch der Grund für die Kaufentscheidung war. Leider hat mich das Buch überhaupt nicht abgeholt. Ich hatte mehrfach überlegt abzubrechen. Das Alter der Charaktere ( 18 Jahre) passt für mich überhaupt nicht zur Schwere der Story und den Dialogen. Sie klingen teilweise zu reif. Die Geschichte hatte Potenzial. Ich hätte mir mehr innere Monologe mit Arkin gewünscht, insgesamt mehr Tiefe für diese Story. Leider habe ich auch keine tiefe Verbindung zwischen beiden gespürt.
