About the book

In the spirit of Colleen Hoover and Jojo Moyes's Me Before You, an unforgettable and heartbreaking love story with an earth-shattering secret at its core that asks the question: is love worth risking everything for?

An earth-shattering secret. A life-changing love story.

When Wren realizes her fiancé is in love with someone else, she thinks her heart will never recover.

On the other side of the world, Anders lost his wife four years ago and is still struggling to move on.

Wren hopes that spending the summer with her dad and step-family on their farm in Indiana will help her to heal. There, amid the cornfields and fireflies, she and Anders cross paths and their worlds are turned upside-down again.

But Wren doesn't know that Anders is harboring a secret, and if he acts on any feelings he has for Wren it will have serious fall-out for everyone. Walking away would hurt Wren more than she can imagine. But, knowing the truth, how can she possibly stay?

Oh wow… what an emotional story !! I’m sorry if this review will be quite short, it’s currently 1:35 am and I have school tomorrow but I wanted to finish this book 😭. This review will have spoilers. Okay so firstly, I rlly liked the writing style, it was easy to read. The story begins with Wren and how her fiancée Scott falls in love with someone else. She decides to visit her father and stepfamily on their farm. Wren felt really out of place and let out which was so understandable. The family didn’t want to overstep Wrens Boundaries and kind of left space between them but Wren took it a completely wrong way which was also interesting to see. I honestly loved so much how her relationship with her step-/family improved. The way Bailey (her stepsister) and Wren really became sisters and not strangers was so cute, their friendship blossomed fr. I’m not gonna lie I thought first that Bailey would cheat on her husband with Jonas (Anders brother) but fortunately not !! And while we are talking about him I really liked Jonas too he was such a good character. It was also cute how Bailey and his friendship blossomed since the first day they met. Anders was also a good character who has gone through so much. The biggest twist was how his wife (Laurie) wasn’t REALLY dead. I forgot what it’s called what she had but basically her body’s still 'alive' but she’s basically gone; she doesn’t feel any pain, doesn’t feel love and just basically doesn’t feel anything and she was also in a wheelchair and was just resting in bed. At first I found it boring for some time cause nothing really happened and it was kinda too much of a ‘slow burn' for me but yeahhh. I personally think that Anders should have told Wren that she’s not technically dead but he still let her believe that like ykwim. It was a very slow burn I mean we got the first kiss on page 351!! 😭. The thing is, I still kinda understood both sides near the end. Wren was just completely hear broken and Anders didn’t want to betray anybody and was literally drowning in that feeling and state. At the end, Laurie ‘finally' died and that poor girl was finally put to rest. Anders and Wren finally got married which was super cute and it hinted at the end that Wren was pregnant 🫣. Basically, I found the book boring in some points but also very emotional and I generally liked it so yeahhh.
