But traveling with a young dragon in an unfamiliar land proves more difficult than anticipated. Between angry mobs, midnight rescues, and recalcitrant sheep, they battle (figuratively) their way across the countryside, defend themselves against enemies old and new, and discover something remarkable hidden in the mountains of Wales.

Not a fan of her writing style.
Ok, hear me out. The book was recommended to me by Amazon after finishing a different regency romantic comedy one. I downloaded it, and I love the story. It is romantic comedy and adventure covered in a book. It is set in the regency era, which I like sometimes. It has dragons! I started reading it, and actually liked her style of writing. Why? Because when I tell stories, I do it just like her. But at some point it got too annoying. Reading a story (which is why I got the book), but also reading what she thinks (which I also tend to do a lot as you can see here (or just adding some context)) can be tiring. So I skipped a lot of the parts, I just wanted to find out what happened. Lesson learned: If I want to write a book, do NOT write so much context in between.

Der zweite Teil der Miss Percy Reihe hat mir wieder gut gefallen. Story-technisch ein klein wenig schwächer für mich als der erste Teil, was einfach an dem langen Reiseabschnitt liegt, aber besonders die letzten 150 Seiten waren wieder toll. Was die Geschichte und Charaktere angeht, hab ich kaum Beschwerden, und wer cozy Drachengeschichten im England/Wales der Regency Zeit mit einem Schuss Spannung mag, ist hier gut aufgehoben. Einzig der Schreibstil ist - wie beim ersten Teil auch - etwas problematisch, was zum Sterneabzug geführt hat. Die Autorenstimme ist wie beim ersten Teil sehr stark, der Stil ist sehr beschreibend und wenig emotional und es werden oft in Klammern zusätzliche Details zur Erklärung hinzugefügt. Grundsätzlich passt der Stil zur Story und im Großen und Ganzen komme ich mit ihm klar, aber teilweise waren die Beschreibungen/Erklärungen etwas zu viel des Guten und etwas mehr Emotionen hätten auch nicht geschadet. Wer den ersten Teil mochte, wird den zweiten Teil auch mögen (trotz frustrierendem Ende, welches jedoch den Wunsch nach dem dritten Band definitiv größer werden lässt), wer schon beim ersten Teil mit dem Schreibstil Probleme hatte, sollte wissen, dass dieser nicht besser wird und entsprechend entscheiden.
