Eyolf is the son of Alfred and Rita. Disabled, he uses a crutch in order to get around. His parents feel guilt about Eyolf's disability and his inability to live a life like the one other boys in the area live out. Eyolf declares he wants to be a soldier, but this isn't exactly possible for him. His death causes his parents to realize they never really loved him, a frightening thing to consider after two people have brought a child into the world. Asta, Alfred's sister, realizes that she actually isn't his biological sister, and incestuous feelings start to boil up (can I get a YIKES?!) The tension in this play is so well-done!
