4.25! I am overwhelmed. I had no expectations before grabbing this one up because thrillers and mystery- stuff aren't really go-to books for me. This one, though, made feel a tiny bit terrified, slighty terrified and ABSOLUTELY terrified, and I totally enjoyed it. The romance, too, tore at my heart, especially in these many moments we doubt River and his intentions - is he evil or is he not? do we even care?- making Violet's suspicions come to life very vividly. The setting and sidekicks including Violet's half-bad half-good brother Luke , the twins' childhood friend Sunshine, cute little Jack and Neely were amazing, as well. I'll also add the writing style to the things I love about this book because it made me unable to do anything but read, read, read. I am interested how I will feel about the second book in the duology because it unfortunately has not been translated and I usually hate switching between languages within a series.
This was so bad it was hilarious. The promised horrors were nonexistent. You could shelf it as paranormal but a miserable one. Every male character is beautiful, they sleep beautifully, eat beautiful stuff and are so dazzling your brain shuts down the second you lay your eyes upon them. All probably spawning from Edward Cullen. Inheriting the awful character traits of course too. Violent sexists seem to be the last summer trend. The heroine is a weirdo. Cliche? She prays to her dead granny and likes to wear dead peoples clothes, has no problem sharing a bed with a murderer because you know, he is just so damn beautiful with his panther hips. The action scenes don't make much sense and fail to connect to the trace of a plot that stayed hidden from my eyes. If you're looking for a love triangle, flat characters and no plot, that's your book. It won't strain your brains, promised.
