I honestly don't know if it was a good book or not. I'm still confused and mesmerized at the same time. I guess in one way or another I truly enjoyed it so I just have to give it 4 Stars, but I also hated it a little. This book is weird, gruesome, and very intriguing. I even felt a little nauseous at times. Even though I've read the Troop, among others, this was probably the most unpleasant book I've ever read. One thing is certain: this book reflects the abyss of humanity very well, and for that reason alone you should definitely read it.
I can only agree with the others. I was so intrigued by the beautiful cover art and once again fell victim to booktok recommendations but it really couldn't hold up. It's definitely disgusting and if you like to read about disgusting stuff you might enjoy this but for me personally it felt like the book is just being disgusting for the sake of it. It felt really one dimensional and I didnt enjoy the way the author portrayed the relationship between these two women. I also cringed reading how quickly our protagonist becomes submissive to her partner. There was no real build up she just suddenly feels like she has to do whatever the other woman says and becomes batshit crazy and desperate.
Based on all the “omg this is so disgusting and disturbing wtfff” I expected wayyyy more. Like yes it was pretty bad but it’s not that different from other horror I’ve read. Overall I’m kind of disappointed But the “big thing” that happens was so fucking hysterical and out of pocket I almost want to give it four stars and ignore everything else. This was, unironically, the funniest reading experience I’ve had this year!
Well, this was just absolutely weird! I did not really know what I was expecting before I picked this up apart from the fact that there are two people having conversations online and something horrific is going to happen. Both of these things did happen in the story but I was absolutely not expecting it to get as weird as it did. Nonetheless I was hooked and wanted to know what will happen in the end! Without giving any spoilers: I was expecting more from the end. For my taste it just ended too abruptly. Bit maybe that’s just because I am used to reading full-length novels? Still, if this sounds interesting to you - go for it! It’s definitely worth a read. But maybe check out content warning first - this gets pretty gross occasionally.
