Eighteen-year-old Natalie has just arrived at her first year of university in Toronto, leaving her remote, forested hometown for the big, impersonal city. Schwieriges Thema, oftmals sehr träge und langatmig , Schreibstil gar nicht meins. Wirkte oft, als ob das Lektorat vergessen wurde, da sehr repetitive und zäh. Charaktere ähnelten sich sehr, niemand stach wirklich heraus und keiner der vielen Konflikte wird (gut) gelöst. Eine solch unsympathische Hauptcharakterin zu schreiben, ist jedoch eine Kunst!
I really enjoyed this book, especially the writing style. I know the spelling and style might not be for everyone, but I love how calmly it’s written and how every little detail is described, creating a vivid picture in your mind as you read. However, I didn’t quite like the ending, because I had really hoped the quarrels would be resolved and that there would be a happy ending. Overall, it’s a really good book if you enjoy this style of writing.
