    Devoted fängt sehr interessant an und man merkt schnell, das man nicht anders kann, als den Hund und den kleinen Jungen zu mögen. Der Antagonist taucht auf und die Lage fängt an, sich zuzuspitzen. Doch dann ab ca. der Hälfte verliert Koontz irgendwie den Focus. Nebenfiguren (mehrere), die eigentlich nicht zur Story beitragen werden ausschweifend eingeführt. Der Junge und der Hund treten in den Hintergrund. Der Bösewicht verschwindet quasi komplett und andere langweiligere kommen dafür. Wer ein besseres Buch über einen intelligenten Golden Retriever lesen möchte, den kann ich ganz klar „Brandzeichen, engl. Watchers“ empfehlen. Da wird alles richtig gemacht, was bei „Devoted“ in die Hose ging.

    Ein atmosphärischer Horror- Thriller

    Ich fand das Buch unglaublich spannend und zeitgleich auch berührend. Dean Koontz hat für mich in diesem Buch Figuren erschaffen, mit denen ich mitfühlen konnte. Die übernatürliche Komponente kam hierbei auch nicht zu kurz. Ich konnte das Buch nur schwer aus der Hand legen.
