This book is giving me a hard time rating it. I really enjoyed it and the end was sweet but it also wasn’t thaaaat special and the end came kinda rushed? The idea was great, the characters were lovable and it was really well written. But I think the end could have been executed better? Still a really cute contemporary romance and everything I expect from such. 3,5
I was actually surprised I liked it as much. I still don't like when heroine's have been in love with the hero foreeeever and he has to "catch up". That makes for some uncomfortable dynamics in my opinion. It turned out alright this time though. Funny enough, I also really liked the writing. The descriptions weren't too cheesy and the dialogue felt authentic. Having the Hollywood setting be a bit silly and OTT kind of enhanced the enjoyment as well. Nice fluff (and hot sex scenes ;) ).
When Jason Thorn, Hollywood's leading actor, meets the author of his upcoming film adaptation, he is surprised to discover that it is Olive, his best friend's little sister who has grown into a beautiful woman. Olive has been enamored with Jason since childhood, ever since her brother introduced him to the family. Now, as she graduates from college and her debut book is being adapted for the big screen, Jason and Olive's paths cross once again. However, Jason's publicist sees a need to improve his image and suggests a fake marriage with the girl next door. As Jason and Olive navigate the challenges of their pretend relationship, they must also confront their long-buried feelings for each other. I really liked this book. But I feel like I would have liked it more if the writing was more mature. It made me really nostalgic, feeling like I was reading a fanction in the way the events happened and in the thought process of the characters. It was lighthearted and fun, just not amazingly written.
I am OBSESSED!! First of all: can we please talk about the tropes?? brothers best friend, childhood friends to lovers and fake marriage?? It really couldn't have been better tropes Olive is a dreamy, ambitious and passionate writer. Ever since she was a child, she had a crush on her brother's best friend, who, however, did not seem to reciprocate her feelings. She then decided to write and publish a book based on him as the main character over the next few years. What are the chances the he would end up acting as the lead role in a film for a character that was based on him in the book?? And he didn’t even know! Jason is hot, charming, a well-known actor and also known for having a lot of one night stands. His reputation is therefore not very good and then when he suddenly meets Olive again after many years, not only does his world turn upside down, but other things also get out of control. But one thing is certain for him: Jason wants to play in this film!! Seeing both characters was really heartwarming at times. Both deserve their happy ending so incredibly much!! Jason would do anything for Olive and the way his character changed completely (for the better, of course) was amazing to watch. I absolutely adore both characters
It was a good book, well written and a definitely a fast read, at least for me. The dialogue sometimes was a little awkward, especially on Jason's part but I could see over that. I really loved the story, it was childhood friends, fake marriage and I really liked the aspect of him being in the spotlight. That really made the story individual in my opinion and it was very well executed
