I borrowed this book from openlibrary.org . This book didn't seem based on Star Trek or anything future related at all. The author spoke about people going to karaoke bars, calling 911 and police officers. They don't have telephones anymore in Star Trek, so I wondered how they would make the call. Also, they have never shown a police office on a Star Trek show, so I didn't think the author did a good job getting the future right. Star Fleet is the military, so why call the police? The world of the future is a Major reason to read a sci-fi book, so I don't see how they let this get printed with things that shouldn't be there. The way the characters where acting you would think they were college freshman. Bar hopping and chasing girls. Then later, In one scene a Dr. asked for blood, urine and saliva samples. They don't do that on Star Trek because they have future medicine. He was using his tricorder, but what was it doing if it couldn't get basic readings from the patient's body? He might as well have said, let me schedule you for an x-ray, or let me go get the leeches. I had to stop reading this book.
