About the book

From the #1New York Timesbestselling author ofThe Raven Boys, a mesmerizing story of dreams and desires, death and destiny.

Something is happening to the source of the dreamers' power. It is blocked. Diminished. Weak. If it goes away entirely, what will happen to the dreamers and those who depend on them?

Ronan Lynch isn't planning to wait and find out. Backed by his mentor, Bryde, he is ready to do what needs to be done to save the dreamers and the dreamed . . . even if it takes him far from his family and the boy he loves.

Jordan Hennessy knows she will not survive if the dreaming fails. So she plunges into a dark underworld in order to find an object that may sustain her.

Carmen Farooq-Lane is afraid of the dreamers -- which is why she's agreed to hunt them down. The closer she gets, though, the more complicated her feelings become. Will the dreamers destroy the world . . . or will the world be destroyed trying to eliminate the dreamers?

In the remarkable second book of The Dreamer Trilogy, Maggie Stiefvater pushes her characters to their limits -- and shows what happens when they start to break.

    On the Run

Well, this was better than the first one. At least I got through it way quicker. In the middle, it felt a bit boring sometimes, but then the end was like 🤯 So, I'll read the next one right away, also since I want to finish the trilogy. We start where we left of with Ronan and Hennessey joining Bryde and fleeing from the Moderators. The second storyline is about Jordan, Declan, and Matthew, and then a smaller one with Farooq-lane and Liliana. I liked these groups and their journeys. Emotionally, I was most invested in the 2nd one. Jordan is a great character, and the concept of the Sweetmetal is super interesting. I also really enjoyed her talks with Matthew, who is having trouble accepting what he learned in vol. 1. I also enjoyed the first group, especially the banter, but became more and more upset with Hennessey. Generally, I have to say, though, I had the same problems I had with volume one. The pacing is just kinda slow, and it takes long for the story to progress because there is so much else being thrown in there. As a literature student, I can see how well written it is, what kind of techniques the author uses (lots of metaphors etc.), how she constructs the story around the characters, but on a subjective note, I just want the story to continue smoothly without an anecdote about something that once happened every chapter. I can see how these parts connect to the present time, and some were really interesting and important (like Ronans' worst dream or the painting of Hennesseys mom), but it was a bit much sometimes for me personally. I do appreciate the effort though. I also, again, just like the concept of the dreaming, and there were some interesting theories. I just somehow still want it to be a bit more crazy. Not that what is happening isn't monumental. The concept just became a bit like an instrument for the things happening, and I am missing the wonder and fascination I felt in the earlier books (like in Dream Thieves, which is still my favorite). BUT, I was positively surprised with the twists at the end because I didn't see that coming and was bamboozled 😂 Which is why I'll read the next book right after. I hope the trilogy can come to a satisfying end. I can understand both sides atm, but leaning more towards Ronan. I am also curious if this will be the final book of this universe or if it will be continued in some other way 🤔

Auch der zweite Band ist einfach cool, magisch und spannend, vor allem das Ende hat es in sich! Da muss ich unbedingt weiter lesen!
