Description

One taste of her is all it takes. He's playing for keeps... Notoriously bad at peopling, Isadora Savoie spends most of her time in the greenhouse or at the local animal shelter, using her Conduit powers of growth and healing. Content to remain in the background of the Savoie sister shenanigans, she's reluctantly roped into the mystery of missing neighborhood girls. Now, she's partnered with a flashy, flirty vampire to find them before it's too late. Devraj Kumar has seen and done it all. Three hundred years roaming the earth as a Stygorn-a legendary vampire warrior who operates in the shadows-has its perks. But ennui has set in. That is, until he has a run-in-literally-with an intriguing witch while on a new assignment in New Orleans. Fascinated by her resistance to his charms, Devraj can't help but push her buttons in an effort to get to know the shy witch. Fortunately for him, she's been recruited by the Lord of Vampires to assist Devraj on the case. Between a Bollywood marathon, supernatural dating app, secret package, and sexy driving instruction, Isadora is in over her head. And Devraj? After just one taste, he's playing for keeps.

in my search of good vampire books, I saw this reccomended several times on reddit, so I gave it a try. the idea of the book is good and I'm sure the author has planned it out well, however I couldn't bring myself to finish it. (gave up at 35%) I like detailed and diverse character creation (e.g. Isadora is not a small woman every man lusts after because she's helpless and naive/Devraj is an ex-Bollywood actor which I'd never seen before in a book) but for my taste it was way too much. Isadora has a million sisters that seem interesting but with they way they show up for a few pages again and again I just cannot keep track of them like I want to. The world building is cleary thought-out and detailed but as I was looking for a simple vampire book, I did not anticipate how magic and vampires work here. (might be a spoiler, so skip the next sentence) Devraj is a special kind of vampire and seems to have psychic abilities and visions, while all vampires can apparently go invisible They are also not really immortal but age up to 300 years or something, if I remember correctly. Each sister is a different kind of witch, and I find it a little odd that, as sisters, each if them coincidentally inherited a different main ability. It felt like on each page, there was new magical stuff to learn about all characters and while in the beginning I found it interesting, after a couple of chapers it was just too much for me. The banter between Isadora and Devraj is nice and sometimes funny, but as I didn't get too far into their relationship development, I wonder how the spice that is mentioned will fit in there. All in all, it could be a nice book, just not for me. If you like a very detailed world with very unique magical features and abilities, this might be for you, though.

This series is really a nice break in everyday life. I was scared that this one wasn't going to be as good as the first one, but it didn't disappoint! So Isadora is an introvert witch, who is a conduit meaning she can basically give more energy and heal things and people and animals. She's also decided not to date anymore right now, she's been disappointed one too many times. In comes Devraj, special Stygorn vampire police but also former Bollywood star and absolytely hot to solve the mystery of disappearing human girls in Ruben area, which is also the Savoix sisters area. He's called in because the disappearance might be caused by vampires. It was a really funny, really good book. The romance didn't drag but it wasn't too fast. The characters make sense, they're pretty realistic, in spite of being supernatural creatures. Their flaws were consistent, and that's what we like. The plot was also nice and furthers our knowledge of the world. Now I have somme guesses: we know Violet and Nico are the next couple and I think it's pretty obvious Ruben and Jules are meant for each others. So here are my guesses, Clara ends up with the hot hacker grim, I think it's pretty strongly hinted at and I would like to see Livvie end up with a warlock, just to switch things up.
