Description
After two hundred years of exile, King Maric has allowed the legendary Grey Wardens to finally return to Ferelden. When they come, however, they bring dire news: one of their own has escaped into the Deep Roads and aligned himself with their ancient enemy, the monstrous darkspawn.
The Grey Wardens need Maric's help, and he reluctantly agrees to lead them into the passages he traveled through many years before, chasing after a deadly secret that will threaten to destroy not only the Grey Wardens but also the Kingdom above.

Besser als The Stolen Throne und liefert mehr Perspektive und Hintergrundinfos. Schreibtechnisch allerdings nicht die Creme de la Creme
The Calling folgt als zweiter Band auf The Stolen Throne und insgesamt hat er mir auch ein wenig besser gefallen. Es gibt zwar auch Stellen, die sich in die Länge ziehen, allerdings empfand ich das letzte Drittel des Buches um einiges spannender als The Stolen Throne. Duncan und Fiona waren für mich die spannendsten Charaktere hier und der große Pluspunkt des Buches ist, dass sich wirklich viel mit den Grauen Wächtern beschäftigt wird. Die Tiefen Wege werden nie mein liebstes Setting sein, aber für “The Calling” ist es überaus logisch, dass das zwangsweise der Handlungsort ist. Wer Szenen im Fade mag, kann sich hier auch auf ein Schmankerl freuen. Diese Szenen werden mir vermutlich am meisten im Gedächtnis bleiben.
