Dirty Diana ist ein mutiger und provokativer Roman, der sich mit Themen wie Sexualität, Selbstfindung und emotionalen Abgründen auseinandersetzt. Die Autorinnen Jen Besser und Shana Feste wagen es, Tabus zu brechen und zeichnen ein schonungsloses Bild einer Frau, die mit ihrer eigenen Identität und Intimität ringt. Trotz der tiefgründigen Thematik fiel es mir jedoch schwer, eine Verbindung zur Geschichte und den Charakteren aufzubauen. Der Schreibstil war für mich zu distanziert, wodurch es mir schwer fiel, emotional in die Handlung einzutauchen. Besonders die Protagonistin blieb mir fremd – ihre inneren Konflikte und Beweggründe wurden zwar detailliert geschildert, jedoch fehlte es mir an Tiefe, um wirklich mit ihr mitfühlen zu können. Die Erzählweise wirkte manchmal sprunghaft, was den Lesefluss beeinträchtigte und es erschwerte, sich vollständig auf die Handlung einzulassen. Die Grundidee des Romans ist zweifellos interessant und aktuell, doch die Ausführung hat mich nicht ganz überzeugt. Es fehlte an emotionaler Nähe und einer greifbaren Charakterentwicklung, die Dirty Diana zu einem intensiveren Leseerlebnis gemacht hätte. Insgesamt bleibt das Buch für mich eine solide, aber nicht außergewöhnliche Lektüre, die bei anderen vielleicht mehr Resonanz findet. Daher vergebe ich 3 von 5 Sternen.
