About the book

"A joyful celebration" (NPR) that shows us why silence is essential to our sanity and happiness--and how it can open doors to wonder and gratitude--from a renowned explorer and acclaimed author.

In this astonishing and transformative meditation, Erling Kagge, famed Norwegian explorer and the first person to reach the South Pole alone, explores the silence around us, the silence within us, and the silence we must create. By recounting his own experiences and discussing the observations of poets, artists, and explorers, Kagge shows us what silence is, where it can be found, and why it is now more important than ever.

Classic case of 'cover-victim' here. It's beautifully designed on the outside. It's not a bad book, it has some very valid and valuable points, it's just very cleverly formatted so that about 20 pages in a standard non-fiction book can fill up an entire 'book' that way. Lots of picture-pages, lot's of half-filled pages combined with a general big font-size. For everyone who doesn't have the time or stamina to read 'Dopamine', this could be a great first easy readable step to get a short-clipped version of the general idea behind it too. It simply took me this long to read, because it's essay-style is not really gripping and rather tempting to be left and forgotten on the nightstand in between the short parts.
