Ein Buch mit toller Message, dass der deutsche Buchmarkt auch mal dringend benötigen würde
Ich fand das Konzept des Buch auf Anhieb super. Die Bachlorette, aber mit einer Size Plus Frau. Umso begeisterter war ich, dass nicht nur das Konzept toll war, sondern die Geschichte auch. Der Schreibstil war und ich konnte sofort mega mit Bea mitfühlen. So viele ihrer Gedanken und Zweifel kenne ich selbst von mir, und ich glaub viele Frauen werden sich auch in ihr wiederfinden, selbst wenn sie nicht Übergewichtig sein sollten. Denn einen gewissen gesellschaftlichen Druck spüren wir wohl alle, denn kaum jemand entspricht wohl wirklich DAS Schönheitsideal, was uns die Medien immer wieder vorsetzt. Die Geschichte fand ich durchweg spannend, wenn auch manchmal etwas zu Dramageladen. Nichtsdestrotrotz war ich von Anfang an sehr gespannt, wie Beas Reise mit ihren 25 Verehrern verlaufen würde. Und ich muss hier loben, dass die Autorin es geschafft hat, trotz der Fülle an Männer, uns Leser eine gute Übersicht über die Männer zu verschaffen. Die Kandidaten selbst, fand ich gut konstruiert. Es gab die Arschlöcher, die Zuckhäschen und natürlich die ewige Frage: Was ist echt? Was ist bloß Show? Wem kann Bea vertrauen? Und wem schenkt Bea letztlich ihr Herz? Besonders toll fand ich aber auch, dass wir als Leser nicht nur Einblick in Beas Kopf hatten, sondern auch in den ganzen medialen Diskurs, der rund um die Show lief. Das hat die Geschichte noch um einiges Dimensionaler und interessanter gemacht. Allerdings finde ich, dass gerade in der zweiten Hälfte des Buches mit diesem Diskurs noch ein bisschen mehr gerarbeitet hätte werden können. Hier gab es meiner Meinung nach verschwendetes Potential. Ein letzter Punkt, der mich persönlich auch sehr gerührt hat, war, dass in diesem Buch auch A-Sexualität Erwähnung fand. Das ist ein Thema, das gerade in der romantisierten Bücherwelt viel zu wenig Platz findet, weswegen ich diesem Buch wirklich dankbar für Erwähnung des Themas bin. Alles in einem kann ich One to watch sehr weiterempfehlen und ich kann ehrlich gesagt auch wirklich nicht verstehen, wie der deutsche Buchmarkt dieses tolle, repräsentative Buch einfach ignorieren konnte.

Ich habe gelacht und geweint, aber vor allem habe ich sehr viel mitgefiebert und auch oft geschrien “nein nicht er” ode “ bitte mach es” ,was ich liebe wenn ein Buch mich dazu verleitet . Es ist eine klare Empfehlung und besonders wer Bachelor/Bachelorette liebt sollte es lesen es macht einfach nur Spaß
Reality tv is one of my guilty pleasures, and it’s cool to read a book about it. Although, I’ve read a series that was supposed to be reality tv-esque, but it didn’t feel real like this did. I got all I wanted out of this book that I get from tv. I love Bea and Asher. I just know they’re gonna be happy with each other for a long time. I don’t understand why they added the love scene with Luc. Was it just her attraction to him? She didn’t seem interested—just infatuated.
4,25 stars! This very much reads like a reality TV show, which I adored! I love the drama and the spice we got from the characters and their backstories, and it was also interesting to get a backstage view on the things which could happen on a show like this! There are many twists and turns, just like a normal episode of such a show, and it definitely kept me interested up until the very end!
Absolutely loved this book! If you love The Bachelor then you’ll love One to Watch. The main character is a plus-sized fashion blogger who is asked to be the next star on this show called Main Squeeze. It’s something that has never been done before. You get behind the scenes glimpses, characters and “commenters” on social media posts you want to punch in the face, and the fun ups and downs of dating and love. Go read it.
4.5 stars I was quite anxious to read this after being disappointed by I'll be the One. But this. This was so on point! Yes, you can feel proud of and comfortable with your body and still have a fucking ton of insecurities that surface whenever you desperately need them to stay quiet. They can be a hindrance, they can make you a person you don't want to be but that doesn't mean you can't fight them and grow while fighting. Ah, my poor heart! I was so on edge reading this book, torn between anxious and excited and sad and exasperated. This book made me feel so much. Bea wasn't perfect, neither were her (genuine) love interests and doesn't that portray reality so very well? The only issue I had was the stereotype French guy: the "villainous" seducer, his whole behavior being one big stereotype. And what did the author mean by describing a behavior as "genuinely European"? First: This book makes a statement against stereotypes, so why use one? Second: Europe consists of so many cultures and mindsets, what is "European" even supposed to mean? And I would've liked more body diversity amongst the 25 suitors, but that's a point already adressed in this book. IMO it shows that not only women are slaves to a certain standard of beauty, men are as well.
