I only gave 2 Stars because I fuckin love the show of killing Eve. I was very excited to read the book, but got dissapointed reaaall quick. I missed the whole tension between Eve an Villanelle that carried the show. Won‘t read the other books…

“Were you very busy?” - “Yes, work’s always murder.” It took me some time to get into Killing Eve, but even months later, I still can’t stop thinking about this show, which is why I decided to read the books. The book started strong, but after some time, I lost interested. I don’t even know why. I loved that it focused on Villanelle and her backstory. At first, I preferred her story to Eve’s, but this changed somewhere in the middle of the book. I’m still not entirely sure what to make of the author’s writing. I loved the humour of the show, which is absent in the novel. It’s quite different from the TV show and I really hope Eve and Villanelle finally meet in the second book. At least, Villanelle is still the badass bisexual assassin who fans of the show love. To be honest, I didn’t really understand everything (mainly the connections between all the organisations as well as everything about the weapons/guns Villanelle used) which is also a reason why I didn’t really enjoy the book. Interestingly enough, the adaptation is better. Maybe it’s because I don’t really enjoy reading thrillers. However, I will continue with the second book because I just can’t get enough of Eve and Villanelle.
