I already didn't enjoy the first book and so I don't really know why I picked this one up. Same as with the first book I just couldn't get into the flow of the story. No doubt the world building was interesting but to me the writing just couldn't pull me in. Towards the end I mostly skimmed and waited for it to be over. I really love a good and cleverly modern written fairytale story but this was not one of them. 1 star because I do love the cover design. 1/5

This was just as magical and dark as [b:The Hazel Wood|34275232|The Hazel Wood (The Hazel Wood, #1)|Melissa Albert|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1500549460l/34275232._SY75_.jpg|53292100] and I loved it. I've read the last 100 pages so fast and desperately as if it was the water I needed to drink or else I'd die of thirst. I loved the grim, dark atmosphere and the short fairy tales in between. And I liked how the MC was put into place several times. Not that I don't like her, I actually do, but many MCs are portrayed as those flawless, perfect beings I just can't stand. Gladly, Melissa Albert didn't do that. Besides, I really like her writing style and would be happy to read more by her.

sooo I finished the book itself but there are some short stories about finch left which I still need to listen to. It took me some time getting into this book because I just thought that the first book ended perfectly well and didnt need to have a sequel with new drama and all that stuff. That said - I still really enjoyed this, it was exciting and I liked how the story unfolded. I think there are a LOT of plotholes (no wonder with hundreds of parallel worlds and different ways time works) but it is managed well.
