3,5/5 stars Okay so here is the thing: I loved the second book. It was one of my favorite books of 2017. This one, however? I just kind of ... didn't. I felt like Amani went through so much character development in the second book, but I didn't see any of this in the third book. It felt like we were back to square one again. She makes stupid decision, after stupid decision, and somehow it just always MAGICALLY work out just fine. Ugh, I hate that. Boy, the time when Amani died I was honestly like: okay, let's get back to the people who REALLY matter, like Ahmed or Shazad. But then, SURPRISE SURPRISE, she magically is resurrected. It is fitting that I read this during Easter time, now that I think about it. But honestly, I would have liked the book more had the author really been brave enough to go through with this storyline, but alas ... Additionally, the book, for my taste, was just too long. All of this could have been said in fewer words, and fewer chapters. I was bored throughout most of the book, which was probably mainly because I didn't care for the main characters THAT much (except Shazad and Ahmed, those two !!!! I would die for my Sultan and General tbh. Amani who?) I don't know how to properly express my feelings of this book ... but it was a bit of a let-down.
