Die Handlung Studentin Kiki Banjo moderiert ihre eigene Radiosendung "Brown Sugar" am Whitewell-College. Dort kommentiert sie zwar das Geschehen, möchte aber ansonsten ungern Teil der Community sein. Als jedoch der neue Student Malakai Korede am College auftaucht, geraten ihre Mauern ins Wanken und sie muss sich mit ihren Gefühlen und Ängsten auseinandersetzen. Meine Meinung Mir hat "Honey & Spice" gut gefallen. Der Schreibstil ist locker und leicht, so dass ich schnell in die Geschichte gefunden habe. Mit Kiki haben wir eine ziemlich coole Protagonistin, die sich nichts vorschreiben lässt. Die Beziehung zwischen Kiki und Malakai war richtig erfrischend und wirkte sehr realistisch. Die Probleme, die die beiden zunächst miteinander hatten, haben bei mir jedoch des Öfteren für Augenrollen gesorgt (aber vielleicht bin ich auch einfach schon zu alt. Autsch...). Insgesamt ist "Honey & Spice" eine süße Liebesgeschichte, die sicher vielen Freude bereiten wird.
Viele, viele sehr gute Sachen. Einzige Kritik: etwas zu lang für meinen Geschmack.
Ich habe hauptsächlich das Hörbuch gehört und die Sprecherin, Weruche Opia, ist brillant. Was mir sonst noch gefallen hat: die Sprache, die Charaktere - sehr gute Nebencharaktere, die Radio- und Filmelemente und dass die Protagonistin Fan einer Romantasy-Buchreihe ist. Punktabzug dafür, dass es sich für mich manchmal etwas in die Länge gezogen angefühlt hat.
