About the book

Set in New York Times bestselling author Jeaniene Frost’s Night Huntress World, ancient deities are poised to wreak havoc, unless vampires Veritas and Ian can stop them … in this thrilling Night Rebel novel! A gift from the gods…  Veritas and Ian have finally defeated their worst enemy, but the power it took to pierce through to the netherworld has unexpected consequences. Soon, Veritas is forced to rely on the last person she trusts---a golden deity named Phanes, who seeks far more than a temporary alliance with the beautiful vampire. Can unleash hell… But an escape from the netherworld soon pits Veritas and Ian against supernatural beings seeking to rule over mortals once again.  Now, they must rally friends and foes alike—if the vampire council doesn’t execute Veritas first. Plus, a wedge between Veritas and Ian threatens to destroy their love. Can they stand together against the unearthly powers about to be unleashed? Or does their love—and humanity—not stand a chance?

The first book was exciting and what I've hoped for starting this series. I liked that despite not knowing the previous book series I had no struggles getting into the story and to understand how the characters are connected. The 2nd book felt in many ways similiar to the first book - despite one specific storyline which was, of course, different. One the other side I wouldn't criticise this that much, because I liked the continuity of the book (I think it's quite the feeling of watching a TV show), and I also liked the world and the characters. But, and that's what made me see the similiarity in a not-so-positive way, Veritas (the MC) also continues repeating her mistakes, and that was to put it lightly a little bit annoying. Then I've read the 3rd book, and after this twist at the end of book 2 (what I didn't like that much, and didn't find at all necessary) I wasn't sure what to expect. This might sound harsh but I don't think the Night Rebel series needed this third book which doesn't feel like a finale. The book might have some nice moments, but in my opinion the plot felt forced, and finishing the last page left me unsatisfied. Book 1: Shades of Wicked - 4/5⭐ Book 2: Wicked Bite - 3.5/5⭐ Book 3: Wicked All Night - 2/5⭐
