About James C. Scott

James C. Scott, geboren 1936, ist Sterling Professor of Political Science und Direktor des agrarwissenschaftlichen Programms der Yale University. Er ist Fellow der American Academy of Arts and Sciences und war Fellow sowohl am Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin als auch der Guggenheim Stiftung. Seine Bücher zur Geschichte der Staatlichkeit sowie zu Widerstandsbewegungen gelten bereits heute als Klassiker und sind vielfach preisgekrönt. Zuletzt erhielt er 2015 den Benjamin E. Lippincott Award der American Political Science Association und 2018 schließlich den Prize for High Achievement in Political Science von der International Political Science Association für sein Lebenswerk.
