This book felt somehow like the little brother of 'Empire of the Vampire', trying desperately and a little too hard to be just like it. It was still a good story, and I did enjoy reading it, but it was still lacking in a few aspects. The worldbuilding felt small and not really fleshed out. The characters were, while fun to be with, not exactly deep and rather cliché. I think if the author would have taken a little more time for details and depth, this could have been truly amazing. I really like the magic system, though.
