The only thing getting killed here is the vibe.
The humor is trying so hard to be quirky and theatrical but it just reads as try-hard and i genuinely couldn’t get myself to care about Virginia or Felix at all. the actual murder doesn’t even happen until a third of the way through and the investigation doesn’t kick off until halfway, so the pacing is a serious slog. And when the mystery does finally resolve, it lands more like an “oh, okay” than an actual gasp moment . The writing just never clicked for me and i found myself skimming more than reading. The retired theater-kid ensemble is honestly the only charming part, but even they couldn’t save this one for me.
