Using historical settings as an aesthetic is becoming a trend, and I wish authors were upfront about the lack of historical accuracy to avoid them. That said, I’m genuinely offended that this book was intended for Jane Austin and Agatha Christie fans; I've been reading both authors since I was a kid. “A most agreeable murder” was just an absurd novel, satire or not. The author stuffed everything into the book, and it needed heavy editing. The protagonist, who has lived her whole life in a small town and hasn't accomplished much, is suddenly portrayed as a capable detective. This doesn't seem realistic, given her background. .

A page turner for me!

If you love crime, humor and historical books, this one is for you! The main character reminded me a little bit of Eloise from Bridgerton (if you saw/read it, then you know) and I loved every thing about it! We meet Beatrice, the eldest daughter from the Steele family. She has a special interest in crime and murder, not a very suitable hobby for a young lady. Who knew she would be involved and investigate in one sooner than she thought? It was nicely written, even for someone, whose first language isn't English, it was perfectly understandable. I didn't knew, it would have a humorous note to it and loved every bit of it. The plottwists were great and I didn't expected this exact ending and eventhough I had my suspicion for the murderer, I was still very surprised at the end! I can't wait to read more from this author!
