This book is not only incredibly educational, entertaining, and moving, it is also incredibly important. The parallels between the abortion debate in the 1800s and now are fascinating and concerning, as they show how little progess we have made towards giving women the bodily autonomy they deserve. Reading through the Madame Restell story will conjure images of politicians in the modern era; the things they were saying 200-some years ago could be coming out of the mouths of many people in power today.
