This should most likely be classified as a graphic novel - with the somewhat unusual topic of menstruation, addressed especially to girls around the age when you start menstruating. (But also very readable as an adult woman, or as a male trying to understand what's going on.) The aim is, basically, to normalise the treatment of this biological process and the things surrounding it, such as tampons, pads, etc., in social situations. To make girls and women, in other words, less ashamed about something that is just natural and can't be helped from and to a certain age. The tone is refreshingly humourous and at the same time gentle. As an adult woman, I've been through a lot of the things in the book and probably would have loved to have a book like this as a young teen. Though I might have been too ashamed to buy it myself, or to be given it. (Yes, being a teen was complicated for me.)
