This book was slow going ... I was looking for other things to do instead of listening to it. I also caught myself spacing out on numerous occasions and didn't bother going back to listen to the passage again. I just couldn't connect to the story. Nevertheless, I did appreciate the author putting her life story against the ongoing political and social events and how their lives were impacted by it. It was also interesting to hear about the development of rights for disabled individuals. On the other hand, there was just too much information: details of both his and her academic work, political and social events and minutiae recounting of family events and details about a lot of family friends. This book needs a good editing, to cut out all the fluff. More than once I thought about not finishing it and when I checked once again my listening progress and there were still 4 hours left, I just gave up.
