"When a man calling himself the Guardian appeared and said they had come to make their deepest dreams come true, they embark on an adventure none of them ever imagined, and the consequences of their actions would change them forever." I really wanted to like this book, I still do. The initial idea was great, which is why I wanted to read it. A group of people stuck in a white room, a play on their dreams and fears. I'm always up for something like that. But the execution of the idea was, in this case, done very poorly. To me, the whole thing read like a first draft, a good first draft, but it still needs a lot of work. Some scenes and characters need to be fleshed out more, while others are overdone or generally too much. The writing style I couldn't get used to either. It might have played a big part in why the rest of the book seemed so annoying. The same dialog tags were used over and over, and some could have been left out altogether. See why I think this is a first draft? I still gave it two stars on GoodReads: one for the idea, and one for little bits and pieces that I did like. But it's a book that still needs a lot of work. I'm sorry, but judging by this first book, I'm not going to continue reading this series. "My hands got sweaty and my pulse quickened. He had this effect on me, like caffeine, good-looking caffeine."
