„Die Hölle ist leer und alle Teufel sind hier“ 🤍

Ich hätte im Leben nicht gedacht, dass mich ein Shakespeare Werk so abholen könnte. Es ist tiefgründig, witzig, theatralisch und magisch Als letztes geschriebenes Stück von Shakespeare, wirklich eine große Empfehlung für alle, die sich schon immer mit einem seiner Werke auseinandersetzen wollten!

Okay, I read in German but even the translation was a bit strange for my taste, I overread the mistakes and love the book. It's not that typical for a Shakespeare play. There was a heavy storm, they had shipwrecked. Everyone thought they were the only one survived. Of cause a King was on board, a prince and other very important persons. Oh, and a ghost - there aren't many Shakespeare plays without a ghost. But at least I really liked it. It's an easy one to read and to understand. But like I said: the translation from Christoph Martin Wieland was awful. The fact that he lived from 1733 - 1813 just excuse all the mistakes he done. Maybe he didn't know it better.

I don't know how to rate Shakespeare, the writing is obviously beautiful and the stories have stood the test of time for a reason... This story wasn't for me, though, and great writing is lost on me, so I gave this my enjoyment rating as usual. There were interesting concepts, but sometimes the way they were conveyed didn't resonate with me and I was kind of thinking today you would do more exciting things with that concept, maybe. I just read this because I wanted to know how well I understand Shakespeare now and cause I didn't really know the story and it sounded fun, but the whole "the characters are symbolic for types of people and not really real people" thing wasn't for me. Still, the writing was awesome and it was enjoyable.
