Sophie is on the run from an abusive husband, seeking peace in a remote forest cabin. What she finds instead is Cruce—the cursed Lord of the Forest, a shadowy being drawn to her in a way he’s never experienced before. While his pull toward her is immediate, Sophie takes her time, setting boundaries and slowly opening up. Their relationship is a mix of instant attraction and slow burn, with both characters learning to trust in their own ways. The story moves fast but doesn't feels rushed. Sophie’s emotional journey is handled with care, and the romance is both steamy and sweet. Cruce is intense but respectful, and their chemistry crackles as her walls come down. The supernatural setting adds an eerie, atmospheric charm, especially as All Hallows Eve approaches. The ending is especially satisfying and the epilogue ties things up with a heartwarming bow. Sadly, I wasn't swept off my feet, it's a type of story I like but it felt somewhat wrong to have Sophie in this situation so quick after everything she's already went through. So 3 stars
