I was really hyped for this one but unfortunately it did not live up to my expectations. While I enjoyed many elements such as the setting and the chosen names and characters, I felt that the novel was lacking depth and the sections on Grant relevance. It touched upon a lot of topics, racism, sexism, colonialism, classism, and yet, it did not follow through with any of them. I was hoping for more details on the world as well, and while I applaud the author for showcasing the strength of women, it felt a little forced.
