A Vow in Vengeance hat mich komplett eingenommen. ✨ 100% Leseempfehlung! ✨

Tarot, Magic, Wings and Horns

A Vow In Vengeance

I cannot believe that this is a debut, because what do you mean you deliver this PERFECTION as your first ever published book, Miss Rodriguez? This story reminded me why I love the Romantasy genre so much. It had everything. A killer plot with some major twists that I did not see coming, an enemies to lovers dynamic with so much tension, yearning and angst that it made me fall to my knees and a strong, compassionate FMC I am now madly in love with. The setting with the vastly different courts of the immortals, the collapsing mortal worlds and the dark academia vibes of the Druid Academy made this story feel so alive and immersive, it truly felt like I was watching a movie inside my mind. Those characters were all so complex, emotionally flawed and multi-layered that it was the easiest thing ever to build a connection with them and root for them. And that goes for our main characters as much as the little found family that the side characters formed over the course of the story. The tarot based magic system was intricate and complex, but the author managed to make it easy to follow and I found myself immersed in it and wanting to learn even more about it. ROMANCE! MY GOD! WE ARE SO BACK, BABY! Rune and Draven have my whole heart and I will protect these babies with everything I got. I felt their connection from the first time their fates collided and this feeling only grew stronger as the story progressed. You have to read this book if you liked the magic system of Arcana Academy and One Dark Window, a magical world with a dark academy setting at it's center, a slow burn enemies to lovers dynamic that will have you screaming into your pillow and a plot that will keep you on your toes until the very last page. Thanks to Zando for this arc!

I‘m positively surprised. I honestly didn’t expect this book to be as good when I started it.

I‘m positively surprised. I honestly didn’t expect this book to be as good when I started it.

While it’s the second book in two months for me which uses Tarot cards as offensive magic, it’s still unique in its worldbuilding and after some input actually quite dark. The world is complex and I’m totally expecting to get even more details during the sequel, but the first book already gave many information without being too overwhelming in worldbuilding. The romance plot was predictable but none the less well written. And I’m absolutely here for the fake dating part of it. Still, it’s nothing new and the main reason why I only give 4 stars and not the full 5. I definitely did not expect the turn of events around her heritage and family history, I was dumbfounded. Well and heartbroken. AND I can’t wait for the sequel to be released because the end was making me extremely curious about what’s going on. Overall a very nice read and absolutely a recommendation for everyone who loves a Romantasy with good worldbuilding. Thanks to Netgalley for the eARC!
