What the book is about: "For Gemma Green’s first time, things should have been straightforward. Find your subject, hold their gaze and push a thought into their head to save them from future disaster – Aversion complete. A pretty simple process given that the subject was to have no recollection of the experience. But Russ Tanner doesn’t seem to want to forget. In fact the more she tries to avoid him, the more he pushes to get to know her. Gemma knows she has a problem but is she facing the side effects of a failed Aversion or has the school’s tennis champ really fallen for her?" Own opinion: This book with about 123 pages is read very quickly and I sat down one afternoon, took this book into my hands and read it through in a few hours. The writing style is easily read but it still has some weak points. The idea behind this story is great and the best? It is completely new! At least I never read a book or saw a movie like this. Kenechi Udogu has so much imagination and created something completely new, the so called "Mentalists". The autors new idea is logical and so I had a lot of fun while reading. You fall easily in love with the new ideas, abilities and opportunities. Russel is the crush of the school, totally interested in Gemma, openess in person and his eyes are hypnotizing. Wait ... actually Gemma would rather be the person who hypnotizes with her eyes because she is the only female Mentalist. Gemma has her own head which she knows how to get through and so she often finds ways out if she needs it. Russel and Gemma are two really sweet characters and they also have really genius names! But they lacked more deepness and the lovestory was a little to quick. The part with the lovestory is explained in the story but you still need to be a fan of it. For the deepness of the characters I still have hope for the following books of this series (which I definetely have to read). There is no open end and that was something I really needed in this genre. (Really happy about that fact! *-*) But you can still feel the pen float over the pages and you know it will go on. In short: The idea and the fantasy elements are great so you definitely want to read more. It is also perfect for a short read with those 123 pages. There are still small parts which are improvable but I have lots of hopes on the following books of the series. =)
