I think this Captain Marvel run is superior to the one that is happening right now in both story and characterization. I'm not exactly sure what made this a much more enjoyable read than the first book of the 2014 series; perhaps it's the lack of other prominent characters which allowed Carol to really shine. Yes, some popular characters like Steve Rogers, Jessica Drew and Spider-Man made an appearance but it never felt like they were taking over the story because they were limited to one or two scenes each.
