Too fast, not creepy enough

This read more like an action-crime than a thriller. In this fast paced run down of events the suspence is missing and opportunities to add emersion are wasted. The sparse description of the settings sometimes caused confusion about the location of the scene. A Few more words would have sufficed but I put the pieces together after a few disorienting moment, so it was fine. Similarly, the characters full potential for depth and relatability was left unitilized. The complexity of the characters and emersion into the setting were neglected to cut to the chase of the plot. I still feel like I barely know these people... Also, sidenote: The head of security is such a loser 😆 My god, does he suck at his job. Fumbling nearly every single situation. Bless his little heart. You can tell that the author stems from the cinematic side of the arts. I can totally see this story being produced as as fast paced, action packed movie and it would probably be really successful. For me personally, when I reach for a thriller,I seek suspence, spine-chill and the creepiness that accompanies the quiet moments when the protagonist tries to listen for a sound or is feeling watched, that make you hold your breath. This book doesn't scratch that itch 🤷‍♀️ But if you want an action movie printed on paper, this might just be for you 😊

Well, rating this book is a bit difficult for me. Honestly, I just bought it because I was at the reading froh Richard Armitage and he is an amazing human being and a great actor. And usually, this kind of book isn't my cup of tea, I just don't like thrillers that much. Unfortunately, this also was with this book. I really struggled at the beginning. But I was reading it together with friends, so I continued and the last 50 pages had me hooked! I couldn't stop reading and the plottwists at the end had me in awe. So, if you like Thrillers, you should give this book a try, it's quite good for a debut novel. All in all, it was an ok read for me but I'm still looking forward to Richards next novel.
