Feeling stuck at work and tired of London’s dreary weather, magazine writer Dylan Coughlan impulsively rings a radio station one day only to win a once-in-a-lifetime trip around the world. The catch? Her travel partner must be a contact randomly selected on her phone. And of course this stressful game of contact roulette lands on a number listed only as Jack the Posho, an uptight, unbearably posh guy she met on a night out and accidentally ghosted.
The two couldn’t be more different, and as the trip kicks off, Jack seems like he’d sooner fling himself into the sun than have a conversation with Dylan. But more is hinging on this trip than the chance to see the world. For the past two years, Dylan’s been relegated to writing quizzes (and only quizzes) at her lifestyle magazine after an article about her past abortion went viral—and not in the good way. If she’s able to make a series about their trip successful, her overbearing boss will give her a chance at a permanent column. Dylan’s willing to do anything to make the series a hit, even if it means embellishing her and Jack’s relationship to satisfy readers. But as the column’s popularity grows, so does the bond between Dylan and Jack, and Dylan is forced to consider if the one thing she thought she always wanted is worth the price she'll have to pay to get there.

Dylan, eine Journalistin, gewinnt bei einem Radiogewinnspiel eine Reise die sie an verschiedenste Orte bringen soll, aber dafür darf der Radiosender aus der Kontaktliste auf ihrem Handy jemanden nach dem Zufallsprinzip auswählen. Die Wahl fällt auf Jack, mit dem Dylan eigentlich mal ein Date hätte haben sollen… Die Geschichte war wirklich süß, Dylan und auch Jack waren keine perfekten Charaktere, sie hatten beide Ecken und Kanten, wirkten dadurch aber nahbar und echt. Die beiden nähern sich auf ihrer Reise an und erfahren immer mehr voneinander… aber auch hier gibt es Konflikte, die nachvollziehbar waren und mit denen gut umgegangen wird. Es werden auch verschiedene Themen angesprochen mit denen ich in dem Umfang gar nicht gerechnet hätte, die aber gut umgesetzt wurden und mit denen auch sensibel ungegangen wurde. (Liste am Ende der Rezi, kann den Inhalt spoilern!!) Ich fand die Charaktere wirklich toll, auch wenn gerade Dylan nicht immer sehr reflektiert gehandelt hat. Ich fand das aber passend zu ihrem Verhalten allgemein. Jack war mir dann doch noch ein bisschen sympathischer. Die Reise war toll beschrieben, es gab somit auch immer wieder ein neues Setting. Ich hätte nicht erwartet, dass mich dieses Buch so begeistern würde. Anfangs dachte ich noch, es wird eine süße Rom-Com werden, die zwar Spaß macht zu lesen aber danach schnell vergessen wird. Dieser Roman war absoluter Spaß zu lesen. Der Schreibstil von Elle gefällt mir richtig gut; man kann schön fließend lesen, es gibt nicht viele Wiederholungen. Dylan mochte ich am Anfang sehr, dann zwischenzeitlich nicht (sorry, sie war zwischendurch einfach unnötig unfreundlich und gemein zu Jack). Ich schippe die beiden zusammen so sehr und bin absolut begeistert von deren Love Story!
This book evokes exactly the feeling that it describes in the title - Wanderlust, the desire to go off and explore the World. At the same time as wet to explore the amazing places the two main characters visit, the author manages to also weave in important, relevant topics (bullying on social media/ the troubles that social meadie can cause; abortion rights; being queer). The Book surprised me with it's depth as I expected just the typical fluffy summer romance. Dylan and Jack are both really interesting and likeable characters and I enjoyed reading about the development of their romance.
