‚The Vine Witch‘ comes around with an amazing plot, a wonderful and rich setting and some serious autumnal witch vibes. Vineyards, a cursed witch, thoughts of vengeance, spellwork and some romance are very promising ingredients for a great story. Elena, a vine witch, was cursed and had to spend her life as a toad for seven years. When becoming human again she finds her way back to the vineyard where she had worked all her life only to find it sold and not prospering at all. Eager to find out who cursed her and to get vengeance but also wanting to save her vineyard, Elena talks the new owner into hiring her again and starts working out a plan. ⠀⠀⠀⠀ The book sucked me right in with its beautiful writing, its lush descriptions of the vineyards and surrounding nature and a really enjoyable worldbuilding. It lost me at about 2/3 of the story. The characters started to annoy me by their actions and kept making dumb decisions. I just could not comprehend their intentions anymore. The romance started to drift off in a clichéd way and the plot twists did not fuel the story in good way. It somehow felt like the book had lost its magic along the road and kept getting less and less enchanting with every page I turned.
Habs gelesen, weil Histolicous es empfohlen hat und bin total begeistert. Hab jetzt mit dem 2. Band angefangen.
